Our Heritage

Rooted in traditional care.

A family legacy dedicated to ethical poultry farming and the natural welfare of free-range chickens.

We believe in raising happy, healthy birds with plenty of open space to roam and forage safely.

Decades of Breeding Excellence

Our story began with a small, backyard flock of traditional layers. We quickly realized the immense value of heritage breeds, not just for the quality of their eggs, but for their robust health and natural foraging abilities. Today, Oakridge Hen Farm focuses entirely on preserving these classic lines.

We select our breeding birds with great care. Every generation is raised to ensure strong genetics, meaning our chicks grow into hardy, resilient adults. Good farming, to us, is remarkably simple: we provide fresh air, clean water, natural feed, and the freedom to act like real chickens.

The Standard of Care

How we raise our birds differently.

1

Open Foraging

Our chickens spend their days exploring grassy pastures. This natural diet of seeds, greens, and insects keeps them physically active and mentally stimulated.

2

Careful Breeding

We match our parent birds thoughtfully to ensure the next generation is resilient and true to historical breed standards, avoiding the physical stress of intensive farming.

3

Secure Housing

Every evening, our flocks rest in spacious, well-ventilated wooden coops. This guarantees they stay warm, comfortable, and completely safe from local predators.

A natural life for a natural egg.

The quality of our farm products starts directly with the daily life of our birds. Because they live outside in the fresh air, moving freely across the land, our hens are relaxed and healthy.

This stress-free environment naturally results in stronger, happier breeding lines and eggs with exceptionally rich, golden yolks. We still gather everything by hand each morning, continuing the traditional rhythms of the farm.
